Trimethyl Orthoformate (TMOF) (CAS: 149-73-5) is used as an organic synthesis intermediate, pharmaceutical intermediate. Used as a versatile reagent and intermediate in organic synthesis.
Trimethyl Orthoformate is a highly reactive compound that can be used in a variety of reactions, including acylation, alkylation, and condensation reactions. It is commonly used as a protecting group for aldehydes and ketones, and as a source of methyl groups in reactions that require them.
Trimethyl Orthoformate is used as a protecting group for aldehydes in organic synthesis, as an additive in polyurethane coatings and as a dehydrating agent in the preparation of surface modified colloidal silica nanoparticles. It is also used as a chemical intermediate in the preparation of vitamin B1 and sulfa drugs.
In the pharmaceutical industry for the production of vitamin B1, vitamin A, sulfadiazine, pipemidic acid and antibacterial agents, among them, the consumption of vitamin B1 accounted for the largest proportion of methyl formate. It is also used in the dye and fragrance industry. In the aspect of coating, it is used as a dehydrating agent to prevent hardening of polyurethane or epoxy coating due to hydration. It is used as an intermediate in the production of vitamin B1, sulfonamides, antibiotics and other drugs, and is a raw material for spices and pesticides and an additive for polyurethane coatings.
