Sodium Iodide (NaI) (CAS: 7681-82-5), is an inorganic compound of sodium and iodine with the molecular formula NaI. White crystal or white crystalline powder. Melting point 651℃; Boiling point 1034℃. Sodium Iodide is soluble in water, ethanol, and acetone but insoluble in benzene, chloroform, and ether. It forms a triiodide complex when dissolved in water. Sodium iodide is a stable compound and does not decompose at normal temperatures. It is reductive and can be oxidized by a general oxidant to free iodine. With deliquescence, in the wet air to absorb moisture and caking. In contact with air, it gradually decomposes and precipitates iodine, which gradually turns brown.

Sodium Iodide (NaI) (CAS: 7681-82-5) is used to treat and prevent iodine deficiency commonly.
Used as a raw material for the manufacture of inorganic iodides and organic iodides.
Used as chemical materials, medicine, photosensitive material and analytic reagent, etc.
Auxiliaries and other medicinal chemicals, pharmaceutical.
Used as analytical reagents, in the manufacture of disinfectants, antiseptics, deodorants and medicines.
Used as a raw material for producing an inorganic electrochemical compound.
Used in medicine as an expectorant and diuretic, and also in the treatment of goiter disease.

Used as X-ray contrast agent in medicine, it can be used for cystography, retrograde urography, T-tube cholangiography, etc.
In medicine, it is used as thyroid tumor prevention agent, expectorant and diuretic, food additive and photoreceptor.
It is commonly used as a source of iodine for iodizing table salt.
Used in various industrial applications such as photography, radiography, and scintigraphy.
Sodium Iodide is also used in nuclear medicine as a diagnostic agent for cancer detection.
Sodium Iodide is also used in the treatment of hyperthyroidism, a condition where the thyroid gland produces too much thyroid hormone.
