Deslorelin acetate is a gonadotropin releasing hormone super-agonist.  In is used in veterinary medicine to induce ovulation and to stabilize high-risk pregnancies. Deslorelin is a synthetic nonapeptide analogue of the natural gonadotrophin releasing hormone super-agonist (GnRH agonist) with potential antineoplastic activity. It binds to and activates pituitary gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) receptors. It stops the production of sex hormones. It is currently used to induce ovulation in mares as part of the artificial insemination process. It is also used to stabilize high-risk pregnancies, mainly of livestock and is also used to treat benign prostate hyperplasia in dogs. It is manufactured by Thorne BioScience LLC and was introduced to the USA market following the withdrawal of Ovuplant. It has been listed. D'eslorelin is being studied in the treatment of cancer as a way to block sex hormones made by the ovaries or testicles. It belongs to the family of drugs called gonad-releasing hormone analogs. It is used for the induction of ovulation in mares. D'eslorelin binds to and activates pituitary gona releasing hormone (GnRH) receptors. Continuous, prolonged administration of gose in males results in pituitary GnRH receptor desensitization and inhibition of pituitary secretion of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and  (LH), leading to a significant decline in test production; in females, prolonged administration results in a decrease in estradiol production.
