Naltrexone Hydrochloride (CAS: 16676-29-2), a non-selective opioid receptor antagonist; congener of naloxone. Naltrexone Hydrochloride (CAS: 16676-29-2) is a potent, long-acting, orally-effective narcotic antagonist useful in the management of narcotic addiction. Naltrexone hydrochloride is a pharmacodynamic blocker of exogenous opioids. Naltrexone hydrochloride was developed by DuPont in the United States and used in gradient detoxification programs to reduce the relapse rate of opiate-dependent patients after successful detoxification. Naltrexone hydrochloride is a new kind of morphine antagonist, which is used to treat opioid dependence and has obvious deaddiction effect. It plays an important role in the adjuvant therapy of preventing relapse of opioid dependence after deaddiction. Clinically, Naltrexone is mainly used to prevent opioid addicts from relapse after detoxification. It has the characteristics of effective oral administration, long acting time and no obvious toxic and side effects. In addition, naltrexone has been reported as an experimental clinical treatment for diseases related to the endogenous opioid system, such as alzheimer's disease, pediatric autism, alcohol dependence, chronic lung disease and obesity. Naltrexone hydrochloride is used in the treatment of alcohol and utilized for deceasing drinking habit. It is also used to prevent euphorigenic effects in the treatment of patients addicted to opioids.
