DL-Tartaric Acid (CAS: 133-37-9) is a non-racemic mixture of L- and D-Tartaric Acid with antioxidant activities. It is commonly mixed with sodium bicarbonate and is sold as baking powder used as a leavening agent in food preparation. The acid itself is added to foods as an antioxidant E334 and to impart its distinctive sour taste. DL-Tartaric Acid (CAS: 133-37-9) Functional Uses: Synergist for antioxidants, acid, emulsifier, sequestrant, flavouring agent. DL-Tartaric Acid (CAS: 133-37-9) is widely used in many fields such as foodstuff, medicine, chemical industry and light industry etc. It can be served as beer vesicant, foodstuff sourness agent and flavoring etc. Its sourness is 1.3 times of that of citric acid, DL-Tartaric Acid is mainly used to make tartrates (tartaric acid salts), like antimony potassium tartrate, potassium sodium tartrate. It is also very important for the tannage, photograph, glass, enamel and telecommunication equipment industries. DL-Tartaric Acid especially suitable to be a sourness agent of grape juice.
