4-Cyanophenol (4-Hydroxybenzonitrile) (CAS: 767-00-0) is an intermediate for the synthesis of pesticides, liquid crystal materials, perfumes, etc. It is mainly used as a raw material for the synthesis of ultra-efficient herbicide KIH-2023, as well as for the synthesis of corrosion inhibitors and medicines. 4-Cyanophenol is an organic synthetic intermediate for the production of insecticide fenitrile and fenitrophos. It is also used in cosmetic as an antiseptic and disinfectant. It is involved as a raw material for the preparation of bomoxynil and ioxynil. 4-Cyanophenol is a precursor for the synthesis of a vasodilator, Levcromakalim. Bromination of 4-Cyanophenol results in bromoxynil, a commercial herbicide. It can also be used as a component of deep eutectic solvent (DES) mixture.
